How to Successfully Pump at Work: Tips for New Moms

When I returned to work after my first child, I found myself pumping in my car, squeezing it in between hectic meetings. It was stressful! The second time around, I learned to block out time on my calendar specifically for pumping. By setting recurring reminders, I made it a priority. If a meeting interfered, I simply adjusted my pump time. Protecting this time not only made pumping more manageable but also less stressful.
2. Invest in Portable Equipment

Convenience is Key
While I’m typically frugal, investing in a good portable pump was a game-changer for me. Battery-operated pumps (which some insurance plans cover) allowed me to pump wherever I was (even in the car). Additionally, prepare your pumping bag the night before, just like you would for lunch. This little preparation can save you a lot of time and stress during busy mornings.

Utilize Available Benefits
