How we designed our blank slate new build backyard.

I’m not an expert when it comes to landscaping design, but I did an extensive pinterest board with ideas. I sent a lot of those pictures to our landscaper & they were amazing to work with. All I asked for were some trees, fire pit & “flat” grass where we could kick a soccer ball.

Let me tell you about the cows. These little men are our neighbors and they just “happened” to get out the week our sod was installed. They christened our grass & seemed to enjoy it. I wasn’t quite sure what to do, so I am sure I made a fool of myself telling the cows to “shoo” and “go home” and act as their herding dog to get them home.

I always love a good before and after. We had dreamed about a backyard for a long time. It is now where we spend so much of our time. It is the space for the kids to run, a space to gather & host.

I hope this encourages you to think about your backyard & making it an additional “room” of your home.
