This Week in Bloom

Welcome to September and the FIRST official “this week in bloom” post. Imagine this as the “I ran into you at daycare drop-off and was excited to connect” snapshot of the week. Here’s what’s been going on:

I ordered this sweater in a size Medium in Agate Green

It’s the perfect transitional piece — great quality, fun color, and a soft knit. It’s my go-to on those days where I’m willing fall to arrive but it’s still way too hot outside. I also wore it a lot this spring when I wanted a pop of color. Easy to throw on, super flattering, and effortless.

Okay, hear me out — sometimes a lighthearted, cheesy watch is exactly what I need in this season of life. My current guilty pleasure? Duck Dynasty: The Revival.

Yes, it’s scripted. Yes, it’s over-the-top. And yes, it’s a little cheesy. But I’ve been loving grabbing a snack at night, unwinding, and laughing with this big, loud family. They just look like they have so much fun together — I hope my kids and I can laugh as hard as they do when they’re older.

These are my absolute favorite blooms this year — “Valley Porcupine” dahlias. My mom dug these tubers up in Michigan last fall, and we overwintered them here. Online they look pale pink or white, but mine are bright, vibrant pink and have the most playful shape. They’ve been stealing the show in my bouquets lately.

HAND. FOOT. MOUTH. (Yep, we got it.)

We’ve been stuck at home with sick kiddos for a full week. Working with kids at home is HARD — I truly don’t know how parents survived during COVID. Thankfully, the boys have a mild case, but we’re laying low for a few more days just to be safe. Grateful it’s not worse, but missing daycare, friends, and normalcy.

I’ve been slowly reading through Chronicles and learning so much about David’s life. What’s struck me lately is how David prayed constantly about military decisions — every single time. Yet his personal life? A total mess, and he barely prayed about it.

It made me pause and ask:

  • What am I praying about?
  • Is it just work? Just my kids?
  • What would it look like to lift everything — even the messy personal parts — up to God?

It’s comforting to remember that God can still do amazing things, even when we’re a hot mess.

Thanks for hanging out for the very first “This Week in Bloom” post! I’m so glad you’re here, and I hope your September is off to a beautiful start.

With Love, Chloe
