This Week in Bloom

We are officially both feet into September! Ahh, the smell of pumpkin is in the air, football is back on the TV, and my heart is so happy. This is by far my favorite time of year.

A woman standing in a cozy living space wearing a blue sweater-vest over a white long-sleeve shirt, paired with distressed jeans. She has a friendly smile and is gesturing playfully.

I bought this sweater-shirt last spring and have worn it on repeat. Now that the weather is cooling down, it’s back in rotation. The quality is amazing — soft, cozy, and versatile. Today I paired it with a stretchy white long sleeve for a casual at-home look, but I’ve also dressed it up with black underneath, black work pants, and heels. Perfect for those of us working mostly from home but still wanting to feel put-together.

Pilates has been a game-changer for me! I’ve been going once a week for a couple of months, and I’m hooked. It’s unlike anything I’ve done before — I’m usually an Orangetheory or running person — but Pilates pushes me out of my comfort zone and wakes up muscles I didn’t know I had. The 50-minute class flies by, and I’m always sore (in the best way) the next day. It’s even changing the way I think about grounding my body in other workouts. Highly recommend!

Say hello to “Gitts Attention,” my first ever all-white dahlia! She’s an absolute stunner. I received her last year as part of a dahlia club Secret Santa exchange, and I’m so grateful I got the chance to grow her this season. Isn’t she gorgeous?

Decision fatigue is real. I am still trying to choose wallpaper for our mudroom…it has been 7 months. How can picking wallpaper be so hard?! There are just so many choices, and every time I find one I love, I start reading reviews and second-guess myself. If you have a favorite peel-and-stick wallpaper brand, please send recommendations my way — I’d love your input!

This week has felt heavy — everywhere I look there seems to be so much hurt. It’s easy to get stuck in the cycle of sadness about the state of the world and wondering what I can do about it. But I keep coming back to these verses in Matthew 5: 14-15 –

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.”

I’m reminded that I might not be able to “change the world,” but I can shine light in my own home, with my family, my friends, my neighbors. Maybe that’s all we’re called to do in certain seasons — keep shining, keep loving, keep hugging the people right around us.

Thanks for hanging out with me for this week’s post! I hope you’re soaking up all September has to offer… the apples, the pumpkins, the cozy sweaters, all of it.

With Love, Chloe
