Have you prayed over a room yet?

A partially renovated child's room featuring a white planked wall, a gray crib with blue bedding, and a wall with handwritten Bible verses and notes.

I fully believe in the power of prayer — and if I had one opinion to share, it’s that this world could use a whole lot more of it.

I had never slowed down before to take time to pray over a room I was redoing… and I wish I had! So here’s my encouragement to you: if you’re redoing a space, pause for a moment. Pray over that room. Pray over the people who will gather there. Hand that space back to God and invite Him to be present in it.

When we were working on our son’s room, I took a few minutes to write out my prayers: prayers for his journey with God, for his health, for his safety. I even wrote out Bible verses that felt fitting, tucked them under the paneling (a little hidden treasure for whoever may find it someday!), and turned up the worship music.

It wasn’t just a home project anymore — it became worship. It was 15 minutes I’ll never forget, filled with joy, peace, and purpose. I felt closer to God, felt the Holy Spirit in the space, and left that room feeling like it was covered in prayer before my son ever set foot in it.

So this is my gentle nudge to you today: take a moment to pray over your space. Whether it’s a bedroom, a kitchen, or a classroom — let it be a place where God’s presence is welcome.

With love,
Chloe

  1. Definitely a good way to include God in everyday household routines.
